Trainee/Traineeship in Plastic Injection Mould Toolmaking
Are you between 18-21 years of age?

Do you have a minimum of three GCSEs (grade C or higher) in Maths, English and either a Science or IT?

interested in manufacture and motivated, flexible and a good team player with a genuine interest in Mechanical Engineering?

The trainee programme consists of 5 days per week practical hands on learning on the job at BM Injection working alongside highly skilled, experienced engineers. Where applicable day release at technical college.

Candidates will need to be technically minded, logical with a strong focus on attention to detail.

At the end of the 5 years the candidate will have:

Gained an appreciation of the plastic injection mould tool making process;
Be able to accurately read and interpret highly technical engineering drawings;
Knowledge of mould tool materials used by bm injection;
Knowledge of mould tool design, construction and maintenance;
Gained experience in machining mould parts using CNC controlled equipment and the final assembly of complete mould tools, all to a very high standard;
Knowledge of BM injections Ltd quality systems and validation processes.


 

CNC Machinist / Programmer
Role and Accountabilities

The post holder will be accountable to the Toolroom Manager.

Programming, setting and operating Roeders tec milling machines to produce steel components, to a very high standard, for plastic injection moulds. (This involves accurately reading/interpreting technical engineering drawings, programming of CNC machines, accurate final CNC machining of mould parts, to a very high standard, and the final inspection of mould parts.)
Actively participating in and facilitating continuous improvements to tooling and production methods.
Maintaining and updating relevant documentation.
Working as part of a team to ensure set targets for delivery, quality and efficiency are met.
Assisting in the training of apprentice machinists.
Experience and Competencies Required

In addition to the required professional and technical expertise, candidates will be motivated and flexible with the ability to work on their own initiative. A customer and quality focus is essential. The ability to get on with others and to work as part of a team is also essential as is the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail.

Experience required:

A Machinist Apprenticeship.
Proven post apprenticeship experience programming, producing and the measuring of accurate CNC machined parts.
Experience of programming using CAD/CAM systems is highly desirable.
Skills in one of the following: CNC vertical machining centres and CAD/CAM programming.


 

Mould Toolmaker
Role and Accountabilities

The post holder will be accountable to the Toolroom Manager.

Making and assembling new plastic injection moulds to a very high standard. (This involves accurately reading/interpreting highly technical engineering drawings, accurate final grinding of mould parts and the final assembly of complete moulds, all to a very high standard.)
Actively participating in and facilitating continuous improvements to tooling and production methods.
Maintaining and updating relevant documentation.
Working as part of a team to ensure set targets for delivery, quality and efficiency are met.
Assisting in the training of apprentice toolmakers.
Experience and Competencies Required

In addition to the required professional and technical expertise, candidates will be motivated and flexible with the ability to work on their own initiative. The ability to get on with others and to work as part of a team is also essential as is the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a keen eye for detail.

Experience required:

Toolmaking apprenticeship.
Proven post apprenticeship experience in a similar mould toolmaking company.
Detailed working knowledge of the assembly on new high quality mould tools and the use of surface grinding machines, Toolroom inspection equipment and the ability to read and interpret highly technical engineering drawings.
Experience of multi-cavity tooling with hot runner systems is highly desirable.
Qualifications

An appropriate qualification (e.g. HNC/D in Production and Mechanical Engineering or NVQ equivalent etc.) is desirable as is good computer skills and Mathematics at GCSE Grade C or above.


 

Moulding Setter / Technician
Possible shift work, minimum of 5 years experience as a technician.
